Sleeper, actually. My first job out of CDL school was as a company driver in a 98 Pete 377 that couldn't be turned around unless you had 2 acres of open space available. So, the long wheelbase doesn't scare me, and I wanted to remain flexible for the time when future opportunities become available.

Good move, that is how you do it, pay cash for that first truck and don't look back. Mine was an old Volvo White, with a little Cummins... Made money with that little gal right out of the gate, she served me well for quite a few years, never did anything other than a set of tires and service. They don't make them like that anymore. Best part, no payments! When I wanted to take a week off, or a month, I did! And no worries about a bank or finance company calling. Just like today. ;-)

    Go get em! And congratulations!

I have a wife that likes to spend. I tried waiting until the spending habit subsided, but it didn't happen. So I took matters into my own hands. :)

For an $8k truck? Are you out of your mind??? :)

I could part out and scrap the *** thing for $8k.

No dyno, but I did 'blow by' those trucks that were on the shoulder waiting for a tow while I was driving mine home...

For $8,000? He can nurse it. My first old White Volvo needed an in frame, but went 200,000 miles without a hiccup, and I sold her to my neighbor. An old Cat and a new motor are two very different animals.

    Oxbow Thanks this.
