IMHO, I wouldnt beleive I had the job until they hand me the keys to a truck, seriously!

 

no,you've been pre-hired.which means you've been invited to a 2-5 day job interview known as orientation.can't be legally hired till the drug screen is complete.

 

you got the job once you fill out the employee paperwork...W-4, etc.

 

Well that and pass the road test and as long as you don't piss anyone off while your there. Then yes you might have a job.

 

You ain't hired until:

-You pass a drug screen

-You manage to get through orientation without pissing anybody off

-You pass the driving and backing tests

-You fill out all the required paperwork

-You provide all the required certifications (license, med. certificate, letter from your congresscritter, certificate of insanity, note from your mommy)

-You recieve the keys to your freshly assigned truck

-You get dispatched on your first load

and finally....

-You make it out of the yard before some idiot decides they hired too many other idiots!

 

10 years of playing the game has left me with a bit of knowledge. And a huge attitude about most of the carriers out there.

I may not be the best source of information, but I am honest about my experiences as a (former) driver.
