So we pulled into our unit today and found a 50 foot trailer/truck hard up against the side of our loading bay. The driver was stuck and he pulled the truck out scrapping the side of our buildinga and chipping the corner off as he pulled away. He left little peices of stone and metal as he left. We know what company he is with and he was totally beside himself while he told us that he was in the wrong area and had gotten stuck. My husband says to forget it and live with the small damage, the building isn't seriously damaged. What do you all think?
an inexperienced trucker scraped/chipped our building

Whar happens if he cracked some mortar and you didn't notice it until it started to leake water in your walls?
No report it to insurance and at the very least, get it inspected.
Also, don't feel bad for the driver. Maybe it will teach him to stop hitting stuff.alds, buddyd157, longbedGTs and 3 others Thank this. -
This may read a bit snarky. I have questions.
You just signed up for these forums today,
Why did you sign-up and post this?
What are you wanting from this?
Do you have any information on the driver?
Do you have any photos of the truck when it was stuck?
Do you have any photos after the truck pulled out?
Do you have any photos of any damage to the truck and building?Last edited: Mar 29, 2019

A accident is a accident. A building is a delicate construct versus a 18 wheeler. It's a house of cards. Now that I scared you, refer to the post from Expressolane.

Thats a decision only you and husband can make.
If I had a conversation with the driver afterwards I could make a decision fairly quickly I believe.
My thoughts are
If he was sincere, humble and apologetic and it wasn’t a big financial loss to you then let it go.
Some people deserve a second chance and others do not.

Hi there,
So we spoke to the driver, we took pictures, we know what company it was. here are some shots. My friend who is a driver said to report it, my husband said to let it go. I don't really know what to think - so I joined your group to see what you all thought. I don't think you can repair the wall, I guess we live with a damaged one now. My daughter thinks we should let the company know. I'm starting to think so what - do nothing, but realize it was an inexperienced trucker who killed all those kids in that hockey bus last year. I just wanted to know what all of you thought.

alds Thanks this. -
By the way, he never apoligised at all, he just #####ed that the area was small and he had a 53' foot truck. We asked him why he was in our bay and he said he was trying to turn around. He scrapped the truck out and drove off. My husband thought he was going to punch him for asking questions. He was getting very worked up.
Rideandrepair, Hulld and x1Heavy Thank this.
