Well folks, that’s all she wrote for me and SPD. On Tuesday I turned my truck in at the dealership in Wichita so it could be detailed and reseated.

11 years, 8 months and around 1.5 million miles. I hauled a lot of cool stuff and had a lot a fun. I have no regrets.

Now a brief stroll down memory lane. I guess it will have to be a few posts since I can only upload 10 pictures per post.
Where it all started in truck 021

Every Tuesday I would leave Wichita around 1400 bound for Ontario and QC with as much freight and I could fit. Usually starting in Cambridge, Ontario and ending in Arnprior, Ontario. Bounce down to ravenswood, wv and grab a load of plate aluminum to take to Wichita and start all over again. 3000+ miles and home for a reset nearly every weekend.

Then I lost my marbles and decided to try oversize. My first load of 767 thrust reversers.

767 horizontal stabilizer.
My first wing load, bombardier sn: 75007. This went on the first production plane and it’s the one the use in all their advertisements.
Gulfstream g650 wings. We called these the 650 skinny trailer because it was only 16’ wide.

Gulfstream G5 wings. These loads started out wing program and were quite the challenge at 16’ wide and only about 18” off the ground on the right.
G280 wings at 19’6” wide. These were lots of fun on the back roads of ok, ar, and Mississippi. We wouldn’t touch the big road until day 4 in Tennessee.

Angled 787 inlets. These were always a pain to tarp but looked good if done right.

A pizza oven. One of our long time customers built these and we hauled a bunch of them. Great ltl freight for us.
no idea what this was but it was a pain in the ### to tarp.
I was basically a box jockey for a few hours, that was all I could take.
We dabbled in wind energy for a while, I picked up this load, 1of 10 we were going to do. Another driver picked up the second on and almost dumped it in a truckstop parking lot. We were asked to not come back.

 

Man, that is awesome, and you certainly have been able to do a lot of very interesting things and provide us with a lot of great information and entertainment.

We hauled a lot of electric trucks for Kenworth, some test trucks, some were demos, most of them didn’t run.
did severl loads of debarking equipment for Nicholson. Always an interesting trip riding the ferry two and a half hours one way to Vancouver island.
Drug this little guy from ar to Maine and Vermont and hung out while they demoed it for customers. Got to spend some time in Bangor playing tourist
This was the next load after that little truck, a bit of a step down in technology. We pushed it in with an even older wheel loader, it was bound for Haiti.

3 of us took these enclosures out to Long Island. I was 14’6” wide going through Chicago with no escorts on surface streets. It was interesting.

How about 47,000 pounds of dog treats, floor loaded that had to be palletized and loaded into a dry van.

Dust collectors usually under 14’ wide and 16’ tall. Gravy, I wish we did more of these
