One of the first loads on the newest truck. 65k pound marine winch. Grossing around 106k and the truck did pretty good. We had 4 of these to haul.

For the time being I’m getting out of the truck. Who knows that the future holds.
I have set up a pilot car business and will start out escorting for SPD. Hopefully I will branch out from there once I get some more experience. The Block Robert, hotrod1653, Speedy356 and 13 others Thank this. -
Well, good for you. I think it was some time back you mentioned that was a direction you could possibly hit. I'm glad it worked out for you: a lot more flexibility, no more hours of service to worry about, and I hope you're able to work in more hotel rooms than sleeping in the back of your vehicle.
Whatever you end up doing, I hope it works very well for you.
You certainly appear to have a strong work ethic and good common sense. Those things don't always show in today's world, and I hope to continue to serve you well in your future.ncmickey, hotrod1653, navypoppop and 5 others Thank this. -
I truly appreciate the kind words and well wishes.
the trucks set up to sleep in the back and I have a full portable ac system and heater so I don’t have to idle the truck. The way most of the guys I work with do it is they get a hotel once or twice a week. Usually if it’s super hot/cold and we shut down for an extended period of time.
every operation is different but it hard for me to justify a $100-150 hotel room for 10 hours. Just like we all work together to find the typically cheap fuel, we know of decent cheap hotels on our normal routes.
the way I look at it, the more I sleep in the truck, the less I have to work or the more I can save for early retirement.Old_n_gray, The Block Robert, hotrod1653 and 9 others Thank this. -
Quite the career you had with SPD, too bad it didn't last.
Good luck with the new adventure. Keep us updated!FullMetalJacket and kylefitzy Thank this. -
Impressive.. good luck with your new gig going forward.

Best of luck. I would say you'll be missed over there...but I know how Wylie is. You'll be missed by a few of the remaining SPD people that are left, but Wylie won't even remember your name a few months from now

And where you are going be based. I know guys ….hotrod1653, MACK E-6, Speedy356 and 3 others Thank this. -
That's a good idea. When you're ready to start doing loads for people other than SPD, definitely drop a line out. I'd be more than happy to forward you to the people in our heavy haul side of the world.

Just don't start rocking the Hawaiian shirt and flip flops, or @TripleSix will be having words with you...
