What a dumb article. Sure, first guy's car has appreciated (on paper) since the start of this year, but he didn't buy it at the start of this year. He bought it in 2017 and paid nearly double what it's worth now. Umm, yeah, you're gonna go broke if you follow that "investment" model.

Second guy made money on his car because he just bought it recently.

And no, primary residences and transportation are not "investments," I don't care how much they appreciate, because what are you going to do if you sell your primary residence or transportation? The only way you "win" is if you replace them with substantially cheaper alternatives, which might be the case if you're downsizing, moving, etc.

It varies. Normally vehicles do depreciate the minute they drive off the lot but given the current circumstances (global chip shortage) some vehicles have actually gone up in value.
    Like with housing,right now it’s a seller’s market.

    Y’all
Can have the million dollar stuff that can’t be driven.

I will just be putting miles on our 65 Falcon station wagon.
Just finished installing the Holly Sniper EFI
Installed the vintage air AC a couple of years ago.
Looks just like an an 18 yr old got his grandmas wagon , in 1976.
Has slot mags and fat tires, lumpy cam and loud pipes and skyjacker air shocks.

Saddest part is that guy is 29 and his $12k used car is the most valuable thing he owns ?
Higher than his savings account and 401?

The ones I feel sorry for the are the people who don’t own real estate yet.
The gains are useless, since every house has gone up. Unless you are selling and moving to a rural area that hasn’t seen any price increases.

you don’t own any, and then you’re just getting further and further behind .

this is what happens when the fedgov invents and dumps $7 BILLION dollars into the economy in 18 months , combined with all the people wanting to move away from a big City before the next string of riots and looting and burning gets underway.

Nice how camping on the sidewalk and pooping on the sidewalk and doing your drugs on the sidewalk is now encouraged and legal. But the govt is now stalking hot rodders and racers.

    Lol
Women are impressed with money and /or Power, they are not impressed by a car unless they think it’s very expensive and thus think you’re rich.

Ride and Repair's story above reminds me of my dad's story where he had a hotrod Studebaker convertible,
and took Aunt Lizzy out to "give her a thrill." He sure did, another left hand turn story, but over a railroad track,
and the door flew open, and she held onto the handle and had her right foot hooked on the door frame, and left one under the seat, - didn't fall out but was real close, he stopped, and she wiggled back inside. Once she regained her composure she says - "that was fun, but lets not do that again; EVER."

Oh, and lets not forget the founding fathers struggle to birth this great nation on this day.
Happy Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Fourth of July, Everyone!!

I sold a 19 challenger and 1500 last month. The dealer sold both within two weeks. They had the challenger listed for $52k which was $4k over the original sticker.
