See to me? That's a shame.
I'd love to see someone retrofit or reverse engineer a modern vvt type system on to an old engine instead of going back to retro tech.

It's like modding a small block 350 with model T parts.

There's a guy I follow on YouTube that swapped an inline 6 Falcon with a Windsor block from a late 90's Explorer. But he ripped out all the modern intakes, emissions and fuel injection to slap a Rochester on top. Yes it's period but I don't get it. Can't we mod to IMPROVE the breed?

I guess it's a good thing I'm broke, I'd make the purists go nuts.

I hate resto mods. Everyone’s different. An original unrestored vehicle, with a few scratches, suits me.

Real original restoration takes discipline and money. Restomod is just a shortcut.

There are degrees. For instance, Jimmy Johnson had custom made rims that look like original Rallye's but are obviously much larger. Yet not so large the tires look like rubber bands.

    The end of an era..
Epic rise and sad fall of the Chevrolet Impala
It was one of the last full-size sedans on the market. Production ends TOMORROW! Again, the sedan market is taking a hit as customers flock to SUVs and crossovers.

Sad... I've got good memories of the big car.

In high school a buddy had a two-owner 1969 SS 427, 390 HP, auto, 2-door, convertible that he bought off his girlfriend's dad. It is mis-identified as an Impala SS (which there is), but it is really a separate model. Although it is the Impala body there is no Impala badging. It was hell'a fast for a big car and great for cruising!

Years later he sold it to buy a motorcycle. :(

We recently got a tour of a private car collection where the guy has two '68s. Again, both are not Impala's, but SS. Both convertibles; one auto, one 4-speed.

I remember those “big boats”(as we called them back then) from the 70s. I remember Car Craft magazine doing a restoration/modification on a Chevrolet Biscayne (same body and platform as the Impala but lower trim and equipment-an “Impala Lite”,if you will). When it was done that car looked great!
