Desert rat eh....should have bought a jeep with a mounted .50Actually, I just met my new neighbor....she don't say much, a bit rough on the outside, but she sure is purty.
edit: I wasn't here 2 hours and got my first visitor...was unpacking things, heard a knock, and thought It was someone from the company....got a Jehovah's Witness instead. We talked for a few minutes, but politely, I made it clear that I was just fine with my faith, as is.Attached Files:

Well I got moved in today Rob, thanks for the room. What used to cost a week is now a month worth, which is still just a days pay when I'm on OT. The batteries I tend to are filling up pretty frequent so there needing multiple trips each day.Was called to clean up a mess a leaky pump jack made, sure is nice having a swamper with me at these times. hehe.

No need to thank me, I just hope it works out ok for you, as it did for me. Not the best place to live, but I think in general, they're fairly good people, and well, yea, the rent is hard to beat.
I got an upgrade here...sharing an RV with a Mexican guy, who just started with Nabors about 2 months ago. We had a pretty good conversation about the company, and what to expect job wise...I asked him about swampers, and I guess that'll be me till I get ok'd to go solo...only one way to learn, I guess.
Also pretty cool of them givin me a company vehicle to make the trip over to Odessa for tomorrow. I tell ya, I was gettin pretty nervous about it all, but over the past couple days, that's gradually being replaced with confidence, and excitement.
Keeps those hours up, and the hammer down! -
Cool and I'm glad to hear. sucks being new huh? after a few weeks it's all good. talk at ya later bub.

cool
glad to hear that you got it going -
Told 'em we could sure use one at my yard!
Well, got a 13 hour day in. Hit the yard at 5:30, then took a company truck over to Odessa, for the orientation. Talk about info overload...and that's just the tip of the iceberg as to what this job entails, I'm sure.
A lot of it was really necessary, and some brought up past training from my factory days, a welcome refresher nonetheless.
The company was also nice enough to spring for lunch, which was very much appreciated. Tomorrow, will be my first day out with a mentor, and should be interesting.Attached Files:

Sounds like a winner Rob, Good luck in the days to come.Don't let them know 1 of your hobbies is smoking or they gonna have you pulling that reverse flow behind your truck and being the pit-master out at all the jobs. hehe. I did see an add for a CDL driver to drive a type of food truck out to the rigs a while back- thats what crossed my mind.anyhow have fun and be safe my friend.

Good Luck Rob Hope you will do well, I started a gig here in Florida on Monday also. Hope to run into ya one of these days

Today I didn't do much, as I spent all day with the yard boss, which consisted of driving around in the shop truck, visiting customers....and listening to rules and regs etc. Pretty easy day, but boring...I found myself picking stuff up here and there, and asking for stuff to do. Bout the most exciting thing today, was seeing a flock of vultures dining on a carcass, by the side of the road....seen them in pictures, films etc, but never seen em in person.
I was assured that tomorrow I will head off with a mentor, then next week, they will have me go to San Angelo for 1 week for truck (refresher?) training.
