    as well they should.!!

it took time to go and find him and extract him. the "what if"s" apply at any time anyplace when some moron needs to be rescued due to thier own stoopidity..

like, "what if" a child was choking and the parents were frantic, and the only way to get to the child with in seconds was by chopper?

"what if" a multi vehicle crash happened and someone needed to be life lifted to the hospital..??

and so on and so forth.

as it is, i think the article said (back in 2017) the CHP does not charge for rescues, but what about the state budget and maybe cut backs?

to avoid such rescue operations, charging a fee, for the ENTIRE rescue of a moron should take place, let them learn how costly thier STOOPIDITY really is....

I remember the High Angle Rescue Team in Colorado Springs used to charge sometimes to rescue dumb people (all tourists, no doubt) who would get stuck up on the rocks in Garden of the Gods. But the Colorado Search and Rescue site says they consider it a public good and don't charge now, because it leads to situations that are more dangerous for the rescuers.

Search and Rescue is a Public Good

i personally see it as a "budget enhancer" over saying raising taxes to support the rescues.

we all know of budget cuts in all areas of federal, state, and local economies, and many times, raising taxes is always a burden on us tax payers.

all cuz some nitwits want a "personal challenge"..???

No. They can call 911 if you don't have a carrier/haven't paid your bill.

If you have no reception, yo' stuff don't work.

Well, she's currently able to start and move the wife's car, which is a five speed, so there's hope in that case.

As for the rotary phone, I wouldn't subject my worst enemy to the hell that is the rotary phone. My parents had one up until I was 18. I got a credit card in the mail, and had to call to activate it. There is no way to diplomatically describe the torture that was. I actually have one here at the house. It sits on an end table as a decoration.
