Toss some new batteries, drain and dry tanks along with air supply and it should be good to go.

Might have to sell it as a salvage/flood vehicle though.

That's what happens when you don't put a sissy window in a day cab.

Batteries are most likely fine. Charge them and load test them.

Check ground and positive connections, replace where they burned thru from shorting.

Drain oil out of motor fill up crank case with diesel to soak up and rinse off the white sludge from the water.

Drain and refill with oil and run. Check oil. If any milkyness drain and refill with oil and run again. Rinse and repeat nail oil is not milky.

Drain differentials and Transmission and fill with diesel beyond overflow ,drain and repeat process until no more milkyness.

Suck water off the bottom of the fuel tanks.

If it was in Saltwater immediately start hosing the truck down with 50 thousand gallons of water and 10 gallons of dishwashing detergent.

I have sunk a few boats , all in saltwater being in the commercial marine biz over the years.

I have a buddy that bought a year old million dollar sportfishing boat that was a hurricane wreck out of Louisiana and saved the motors and generators this way.

Saltwater is a whole other story but they are not a total loss all the time.

Well it’s not so much the mechanical components but the ELECTRICAL parts that are the weak link(ECU,PCM,wiring harnesses,etc.).

Much of that is sealed. My buddies sportfishing boat had all modern ECU diesels and the electrical system were fine.

That’s because those components were designed with MARINE use in mind. Western Stars aren’t exactly designed or built to be a boat in any shape or form.;)

While true, if that pic is accurate in so much as how far the truck went in, the electrical will be fine. Maybe some connectors for the lights and fuel level sensor, but that should be about all. Sped sensor to tranny also. Other than that pull it out drain all fluids and replace and it should have no issues from it's dunking.
