CB Antenna help for an old Cobra CB?

    Hi newbie here just joined the forum. Dug up my old cobra CB and old rubber duck antenna from 1982. I would like to test this unit to see if it rec. and transmits but iam missing the small rubber antenna that screws onto the magnetic base, my question is can i temp attach a copper wire or something to this to test my CB thanks for any help cb ant.JPG cobra.JPG

    How do you plan on suspending a wire 108 inches long? I suppose you could park under a tree and cast a lure over a tree branch and pull the wire up with fishing line. You won't be able to drive and talk though.

    Thanks for the reply. School me on the 108" if i remember the part iam missing was about 2-3 ft tall? I dont plan on driving around to test this just in my driveway parked to see if this unit works before i order a new antenna or ( both) Thanks again

    Robber Duck antenna hada load inside/ or 108" of wire wrapped around a rubber stick then coated in a rubber like plastic....To test, just attach a 108" wire to stud
