Found these antennas at a truck stop along one of our regular routes...would these be compatible with the Cobra Classic 29 LTD ? Right now I am using one of those hot rods or fire sticks that is about 3 or 4' and just screws into my mirror...If compatible would these be an upgrade ? About how much extra range could they pick up ? And do they seem like a good deal too ? I checked another truck stop and they seemed higher priced at that other truck but maybe they were newer models or something. 20190730_143106.jpg 20190730_143047.jpg 20190730_143116.jpg 20190730_143119.jpg

Those would be compatible and would be an upgrade. They would need to be tuned to your cb by adjusting or cutting the whip portion. Those are good deals. Those normally sell for about $50-60.

Top loaded works best not those mid load k40's,2000's or even a big coiled ant....
If you dont use a top load ant atleast 6' tall your looseing out..

Compatible with the vehicle would be a better question. They would work with that Cobra 29 under certain circumstances, although there might be better or cheaper options depending on the vehicle. They're tuned to the vehicle not the radio. What type of vehicle is it?

Isn't it true that you need a ground plain in order for top load to work optimally? Plastic and fiberglass tractor cabs don't really have a ground plain. I have heard of people sticking adhesive foil squares or even foil tape up on the headliner in order to make a ground plane. Do you think that would work?

If you do get one of those Wilson’s or K40s, they get water in that center coil sometimes and can really affect the radio swr.
