What about the poor trucker who has to take a load down the coast on Hwy.200? Pure hell. Yes there are many new toll roads and some are nice. But just as a trucker NOB cannot always take freeways one cannot always take toll roads. I am surprised you have never been on 15. This is a major highway for the produce from Sinaloa and Sonora that goes to the border @ Nogales. Thousands of trucks every day. maybe that fellow who wants to truck here should also know about some of the Army check points. Benjamin Hill, Sonora has a new modern reten that looks like a US border crossing. Complete with x ray eqpt. The line up of truckers is often 4 km. long. Can take 12 or more hours. Without pay, bathrooms or decent food. We have driven much of Mexico but not the East Coast. There are lots of routes where there is only a bad road. Some of the carriers do not allow their trucks on toll roads due to the expense. Very costly.
Any American Commerical Carriers drive into Mexico?

I would travel to Mx no hesitation my only concern would be la policia y la mordida otherwise Mexico is a beautiful country and mexican folks are generally really good people always willing to help.
The only downside is "if it's a downside" everything is a bit slower other than that no problems, of course truck stop network is nothing compare to the US but i would give it a try no doubt!Another Canadian driver and Smut Thank this. -

For any old old timers on here, did US carriers ever travel into Mexico? From what I understand, until the early 70’s, Mexico was no more unsafe than some of the roughest US cities. I know in the 50’s lots of US citizens would go south of the border and roam around and usually return home sun burned, hungover, and relatively unscathed.

Why would American Carriers send their $200k+ trucks across the border when they cannot even send their trailers over there without all the lights being stolen off it?
