Broke both ears off my product line. No spares, no extra hoses. Blowing off 26 tons of Portland. Poured a bunch of water on it and cemented it up, but it’s only a matter of time before it blows off there and I have a mess to clean. 10:1 odds on it blowing off before I finish the first hopper?

I've run hoses with broken ears before...not that big of a deal. Use a hammer to knock the nubs into the locked position, and to pry them back open to remove. If you're unloading with the ears unlocked, you are a mess looking for a place to happen.

I thought ya said ya broke your ears off? In the oilfield, them’s as good as new. Just need a hammer to lock/unlock em. Call it a “security device.” Lol

Be interesting to find out if that holds together. How much pressure will you be running?

Use a coathanger and a pair of pliers and wrap a piece of the coathanger around the fitting.

Cheap crap nowadays! Years ago, you could bang on them with a hammer (and sometimes had to) and they never broke.

Ya know, a wire brush and some WD-40 work wonders on those things...

I see it's an aluminum fitting as well, I wonder how egg shaped it is from dropping it on the ground.

In any event, take a hammer and tap on what's left of the ears to lock them down. Otherwise you might be shoveling that load of Portland into a loader bucket instead of blowing it in the silo.
