Okay, and now for something completely different.

I am a felon. I never worked for less then 45 cpm. I never worked for a mega company. I am not a natural driver. A felony is something you did, it is not who you are. Hold your head up and know that you will be doing the same job that someone who was too lazy to break the law does. Being in prison will prepare you for life on the road. Sleepers are about the same size as your cell. Showers aren't as fun. But there are more things to make shanks out of.

Do not be ashamed of your past. Learn from it and use it.

When I work at Swift I was amazed how many people casually admitted to me that they had felony records. Some got into quite detail. It isn't that I even asked at all, some just feel they need to talk about it. You got to wonder how many working at Swift have a felony and don't talk about it.

Swift is not a place for a career, but it is a start.

Not that things are not going to be hard because they are. Almost every employer I have interviewed with has gone over and over how they need a trusted person that they can send to secure places. I have not had convictions of any kind. My driver record in this state shows just that. But even with that record in hand as proof, I had employers question me on any possible "security issues, legal issues, or convictions."

Not sure on the laws here but he may be able to have it expunged from his record especially if he falls under the first offenders act. Would still have to explain where he was for the last 10 years

Fact= No conviction can be expunged/sealed if an individual was sentenced to prison.

Expungement is a separate animal from conviction. Expungement applies to situations where an individual Mayne got sentenced but got community supervision or probation in lieu of prison.

So, prison for 10yrs followed by parole=no expunge/seal
