Do I have any chance at all of beinghired for a driving job after 3 drunk driving convictions. No excusescan be made but it seems like they were a few lifetimes ago and I amhoping that enough time has passed that I can get a fresh start.
The last of them is over 15 years oldnow and I have not had so much as a parking ticket since.
So does anyone think I have any chanceof getting hired on to a company with this history?
Any chance at all

Yes some only care if you haven't had one in the last 5 years, and some are real picky and will never hire you. But I think you have a 50/50 shot if you haven't had one in 15years.

You're going to have to go out and look. But your chances of finding a decent driving job from the start is limited. You have to recognize that you will be going up agains't a lot of drivers that have a clean record and are seeking the same job. So it's going to be a little bit harder for you. It can be done but you'll need to use all your resources and first you'll have to figure out what those are. Don't just sit back on the computer or phone and expect to find a decent job. When you do that all you are is a piece of paper with a not so clean record. You'll find some companies will ask if you've had any DUI's in the pass 5 years and others will ask if you ever had a DUI. So hit the bricks, look in truck stops, check the paper, check the employment office, ask drivers whenever you have a chance, and use the computer. Any and all. Good luck.

I definitely say you have a good chance if they are over 15 years. I think 5 years is normally the cut off. Your best bet would be to call around to several recruiters and see what they have to say before you commit to any schooling.

5 years for one.
10 years for more than one.
Some flat out refuse multiples regardless.
They'll probably want to know if you still drink.
It will take a little more effort to sell yourself, overcome that history in a recruiters mind. -
Only apply with the companies that ask, have you had a DUI within the last 5 yrs. or 10 years, etc. If the ask "have you ever", then don't apply. Go with the online applications first to weed them out & don't forget what you put on the application when you get the face-to-face interview.

I want to thank everyone who replied for their time.
I was not expecting the responses to be as positive as they were and that is very encouraging.
It will be 1-2 years before I make a carrier switch as I do have a dog that is just to large and active to even think about taking on the road with me but he is getting old and I do need to escape form this cubical I somehow found myself occupying.
My plan is to try my best to gain re-admittance to Canada (they call it Criminal InadmissibilityRehabilitation I believe) first and have my CDL in hand before applying to a company.
Thanks again for the input.Dinomite Thanks this. -
