    Good evening everyone.
I just got my manual transmission CDL A.
I'm a FDNY firefighter - it's shift work; so I'm looking for a part time driving job on my days off from the firehouse.
Anyone have any leads on companies that will take newer drivers with a flexible part time schedule?

    Thanks for any advice

@Chinatown will be along later to answer your questions. He's kind of the resident guru for job openings. He's not affiliated with TTR in any way and he doesn't charge for his services but I'd like to have a buck for every job he's found for people.

You should not have a problem finding work. When i was on the job, I started driving dump trucks, charter busses and worked my way up to semis. Where do you live?

Check the Post Office. They’re always advertising for part time Drivers, here in metro Detroit. Usually an outside Contractor. 2-4 days, 4-6 hrs. Pays decent by the hour. Usually includes a mandatory 401k of a few bucks an hr. Paid by Employer. Totals close to $30 hr.

Go to the Hunts Point meat Market at 355 food center drive in the bronx .
Last I knew companies in there like Nebraskaland, Westside foods , Baldor, pork king and fancy foods are begging for drivers .

    Yes I did.
One of the one in Sayrville almost panned out - I was scheduled to start but then they found a retired guy to cover every weekend and I got the boot before I ever even started .
None of the others worked out - they all want a few years experience as a solo driver.
I'm humble enough to know that although I'm licensed - I don't know #### about truck driving.
I need some mentorship or part time helper ride alongs or something like that

Most of those bronx meat market outfits send helpers with the drivers.
Even if ya worked dock it's a foot in the door .
The market springs to life about 3 am .
