I am a fairly new driver just under a year of driving experience. About 6 months ago after returning from vacation. I unfortunately tested positive during a pre employment orientation. Ive been told by bigger companies that O/O is the best way to go for now. I have completed SAP / DOT required program in order to return to the industry. If anyone has any leads or advice I would appreciate it.

That might be a problem as some insurance company's want driver's for O/O to have at least 2 years experience minimum.

Came in contact with? That's funny. You'd have to lock yourself in an airtight bubble with your buddies smoking for hours to get enough second hand smoke to test positive.

For you to have any hope of gaining employment as a driver, you might not want to lie to your prospective employers.

Professional and extremely careful doesn't equal a positive drug test.

Be a company driver for awhile. Insurance prices and lack of experience is the major problem for you right now.
Do some online applications then follow with a phone call in a day or so.
    Carolina Logistics
    USA Truck
    TransAm
    Carolina Cargo
When you call, say, "I'm checking on my job application." This way, the company can pull your application up on their computer screen and get right to the interview.

If you plan to make a career in trucking you will have to make a choice. 'Recreational' activities,.. even on your own personal time, have no place in trucking.

So choose to be a professional driver and hold yourself to a higher standard or choose a different career path that would allow you the freedom to partake in your recreational activities. There is more than one way to earn a living.

Someone gave you really bad advice. Most owner operators insurance companies require at least 3 - 5 years experience too keep costs reasonable.
