Summarized answer:
Get a Peterbilt = 3 points
Get an International = 0 points
Stay out running and away from terminals = 2 points
Stay at the Grand Prairie yard = 0 points
Good with talking to customers/brokers = 2 points
Not good with talking to customers/brokers = 0 points
Ability to act mostly autonomously & think for yourself/adapt to non standard situations = 5 points
Need set parameters & oversight to function effectively = 0 points
Have wrenches & know basic truck repair = 3 points
Don't have tools or incentive to learn repair procedures = 0 points
Add up your point totals, anything north of 10 or so will bode well for driving at Poly; IMO with no warranty implied or given of course.
Chart game is open for modification as seen fit.Texas_hwy_287, CorsairFanboy, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -

I have friends who have been working for Polly for over a year now.
They say it's the best.
I don't qualify because I live in California and they don't want anything to do with that state -
I worked for them over 5 yrs , left them in April.
A lot of changes have come down the chute last 3 yrs.
It's not what it once was.
The shop will cost you 10k per yr in annual revenue.
They do not pay per diem while at you home terminal.
You get paid well when you rack up almighty miles.
Then you need work done on truck and there goes your week unless you slip seat into a truck that has a very good chance to breakdown . -
The poly I'm referring to is actually owned by a manufacturing company and all drivers work for the company -

Which to me means, everyone is moving east of the state line. Still voting for free stuff :/ -
If you live within driving distance of
Grand Prairie tx.
It's the best OTR job in the country.
If you don't,then it's just a pretty good job.
Why, because those of us who live close to
Grand Prairie never get screwed by the shop.
We're sitting at home while they piddle around
Fixing the truck.
It doesn't cost us any downtime.
If you live out of state and your stuck at the yard for
3 or 4 days waiting for your truck to get fixed
Then it's a big problem.
Add in you home time whenever you get there,
And you've lost a weeks pay.
None of this matters if you get a good truck.
Dig thru everyone of them until you find one.
You might have to go thru 25 of them like I did until
You find one.
Don't waste your breath #####ing and moaning
About it to anybody either.
Nobody cares.
Everybody in the shop and office has lifetime jobs.
Skill and performance doesn't matter.
So it's on you to work around them the
Best you can.
Your treated just like a owner operator,
Except they pay all the bills.
Meaning if you have a problem there's a 90%
Chance you'll have to solve it yourself on the road.
You could call the office (lol) and leave a message
Because nobody ever, ever, ever answers the phone.
If they think it's important enough they'll call you back.
If they don't, then they'll just ignore it and your
Own you own.
You'll have to figure whatever it is out on your own.maninthemoon1 Thanks this. -
