I was thinking about the same as op, as a matter of fact, I thought of it as a viable option since the resale value of the old truck is nothing. In my case, the cost of parking spot rent comes into play too but there were a few instances when I really wished I had a spare.

Yes, IF the state you are registered in will allow you to temporarily "non-op" the unit.

You would need to be able to document it for the insurance carrier, but you could then delete liability and only cover the phys dam........unless it's a leased unit.

If leased, the lessor get's added to the liability as a Additional Insured - Lessor, so can't imagine they'd approve.

I've thought about the same year same style truck, but even decent W9's aren't near as cheap as an old FLD or T800. Guess best thing to do is make a few phone calls, looks like a lot depends on what state you are in. Plus keeping the wife from killing me if I show up with another truck
