Having only 2 inspections on the company records and 1 having a light out....doesnt reflect as well on us as I'd like. Is there such a thing as going into an open scale and seeing about a voluntary inspection?
Sounds slightly terrifying and potentially disastrous. But only 5 trucks and a few years into this now stuck at only those 2 on record...not sure what else to do...

sure you could request an inspection.

then you know it's 50/50 from that point on.

i say check things out as best you can first, then decide.

something simple that you can take care of now, and avoid a ticket or OOS later.

then, what are the odds, that say you volunteer for an inspection, then in 3 days you get pulled in for an inspection.>???

i dunno, i do know, i never volunteered, and i ran with some very great equipment most of the times.

Ya I'm not quite comfortable with asking to spend any time with the cops but we've gotten like 3 loads not available in the last few months because of the numbers. I'd definitely get a 2nd opinion/ looksie at the equipment before I did it. God forbid I overlooked something. I think im pretty diligent about pretrip and maintenance etc so im not worried about shoddy equipment just those DOT guys are less predictable than bull moose...

Well that could be perfect win!!! 4 inspections and only 1 lightbulb out looks better than 1 and 1...yes?

Even if the first guy passes it, the next DOT officer will point out something that failed and there ain't a thing you can do about

I have recieved level 2 and 3 inspections and asked to receive a level 1 instead and was laughed at.
Even at portable scales I have asked for a level 1 and never received one.
I don't think they want to give us anything that may help.

Yeah unless for some odd reason you get a prick inspector who will write up any little thing they find.

    then what?

No way, no how, would I ever stick my hands into a bees nest, or a snake den, or anywhere there is no guaranty of a positive outcome.
