Well I haven’t been posting here much but I thought I would give an update. Switched carriers after almost a year of research and due diligence to find my “last trucking job until retirement“. There was a few transitional obstacles to work through but overall it seemed to be a perfect match and a final destination in my trucking career. Been at the company for about eight months now. Great benefits, great people, great environment, great equipment, and for the most part I was taking home after all deductions between $1500-$2200 a week. Well that has come to a screeching halt for the past five weeks… I haven’t had more than 1200 miles and basically I do a load out between 500 and 600 miles and turn around and come right back the next day and go home for 4 to 6 days. I’m told because it’s slow. So far I’ve bit my tongue. But those of you that know me, know I probably can only hold it for so long. Lol thinking of setting up a meeting and telling them to fix it or I’m gonna start looking. Which I never thought I would have to do.

Yeah I know it’s slow but come on. Lol anyone else experiencing this drastic of a drop off? I hate the idea to think that I’m gonna have to jump ship again. I haven’t done anything wrong with this company, have a perfect record, a perfect record with them and overall in the industry, haven’t ruffled any feathers that I know of, and I always polite, courteous, professional and on time for everything.

I know a lot of you owner operators are struggling out there, but I went into reefer work and this is a company position. I mean are people not eating now?

Just curious to see how many of you have been bitten similarly during this downturn.

$1500-2200 on a regular basis is pretty sweet.

That’s how it typically was at my company. It’s not anymore. Lol try 500 to 600 now. Running on six weeks straight.

Look around at the rest of the company drivers. Talk to them. Compare wages and miles.
The chances are real good that your entire company is experiencing a slowdown. I'm sure the company would like to see your truck running more miles.

Hadn’t slowed down at all in regards to miles.

I’d say that’s very drastic! Like REO said what are fellow drivers at the same company experiencing?

It’s bad right now and getting worse every day. You’re slow likely because your carrier can’t find enough profitable freight.
I really can’t understand how small fleets can afford to employ drivers right now.

My personal thoughts from watching everything unfold is that it’s about to get real ugly really quick.
West coast is completely dead right now and once everyone starts migrating east looking for better freight the party will end..

Majority of loads I’m seeing right now west coast are paying for fuel plus around.25 cents leftover. Some aren’t even covering fuel.

Well I never name names on this forum. I try to be respectful of my employer even if it’s not going well. Even the ones I have quit. But the company I work for hauls their own product. At least outbound. And then they usually get brokered loads coming back. So I can understand the backloads being bad. But this is a product that people eat every day pretty much. Lol so the only way it could drastically become this quiet is if people stopped eating. Lol

Our company is strictly reefer, maybe that's why. Mid sized dang good company.. We have accounts but occasionally get broker loads of course . I am guessing reefer is more of a safe haven right now??
