Speaking of Donner, anybody notice that in places, the rebar is now showing through in the chain-ruts? At some point in the near future, California is going to have to initiate redoing the pass. I'm sure they are in the initial planning stages now. That's going to make for some miserable commutes for several summers as they do it in stages.

This is what happened on Cabbage the other night when I rolled through. It wasn't on fire when I passed it, but you could smell the smoldering remains. They must have pushed it into the middle to pick up later because it was still sitting there when I went through yesterday.

We were doing 15-20 mph all the way from Donner Lake to the 3,000 ft mark, and then it "magically" returned to freeway speeds.
I'm blaming CHP. -
