Trans Am has an all auto fleet as well.

I REALLY wanted to drive for Maverick and I was also in their glass hiring area, but unfortunately I can't do it physically so I'm relegated to bulk or van.

Speaking of automatic last night in denver left me stranded at the dock. Kept popping engine ecm fuse, that fuse runs everything in the truck, itll allow the truck to crank but not fire up, so in order to turn it on im taking a chance i took 16g wire. About 2" long stuck it where the fuse
goes ,my digital guage is reading F for faulty and what gear im in, im hoping it catches fire, but so far 700 miles and it's running fine..i will never sit in one again

I would consider drivers learning to drive automatic trucks to be a major risk. What if the truck breaks down and the ONLY "spare" available has a 10 speed?
This is also why my son, once he got comfortable driving automatic, was basically forced (by me) to learn to drive stick. It came in handy the day my boyfriend was out in his service truck at the scale, so sick he'd puked 3 times and he called me to beg a ride home...my son drove my (5speed) car home while I took the boyfriend's service truck (also manual tranny) home.
It's all about the safety...or it SHOULD be.

Forget about trucks, even in cars/personal vehicles; driving a manual transmission is becoming a "lost art".

I'm 31, and I was surprised how few of my friends can actually drive a manual!

So let me get this straight. You can't or won't put forth the effort required to maintain awareness of what transmission you're currently driving and thus end up reaching for a shifter that isn't there when driving an automatic. But I drive both automatics and manuals all the time and I have no trouble remembering which is which nor have I ever reached for a shifter that wasn't there. And according to you, I'm the lazy one. Riiiiiight.

It would seem to me like a driver who is on auto pilot is more dangerous than a noob driving an auto who is nervous as heck and looking everywhere.

The level of misinformation and borderline superstition regarding auto vs manual is utterly stupid. I've never heard of there being a pay difference between the two and that is all I care about.
