As title says, I didn't find a McElroys specific listing in the trucking company or flatbed forum. I could've missed it, selective blindness, but I don't think so
Anyway, got a pre-employment offer from them and covenant so far. Wondering how the miles/pay work out for McElroys? Talked to a driver I saw at Lowe's the other day and they said the pay per mile is great, but the miles aren't all that. Recruiter told me workers avg 1500$ per week, but talking to that driver, they were bringing in 880-1000 before taxes/week.
I understand they're a Monday - Friday hauler so I won't be hitting the 2500-3000 miles like an OTR company, but was hoping to hear from those that worked there (I'm based in the east coast of NC) that the miles are better than that guy's experience. If I'm wrong in my hopes, please let me know! I've heard they're good to work for, just hoping the pay is also good.
Anyone work at McElroys?

Recruiters do their job. Get drivers in the seat. I’d believe the driver. Hope you like tarping, very seldom see an untarped McElroy
Lonesome, Ddh77777, MattaCracker and 2 others Thank this. -
Most other starter flatbed companies pay rookies that much take home. I know that a lot of mcelroy loads are actually pretarped. They have a similar deal with lowes that tmc has with the home depot, or at least they did. They supposedly are good about getting you home weekly if that's what you want.

Specifically referring to what you heard from the drivers you spoke to, not the $1500 figure.

Yeah 1500 sounds like a few years old quote when rates weren't in the gutter. Flatbed/dry van pay about the same now, at least near me for newbies
Most of the otr companies near me hiring are either garbage pay (.3-.4cpm) or teams, and I won't do that.
There's a few guys that went to my school that have stuck with mcelroy for the past 4-5yrs now, wish I could talk to them in depth, but it's just texts to/from teacher. Heard TMC isn't bad. I'm not scared to tarp if I get paid moreLonesome Thanks this. -

Flatbed is down in the .30s cpm range? Jesus H Christ.

I'm east of i95 so it's a lot of mega-only or 16-18/hr construction doing cement or dump truck
The megas that don't require 3-12mo pay .38 in things like welfare express, .45c for swift, and .52 for teams
I got a buddy in Ozark that's putting in a word for me, and I might just do long otr if that doesn't work for a company a few hrs awayLonesome Thanks this. -
Melton starts at 53, 60 after a year. $100 extra every time you tarp.
MachiatoMan Thanks this.
