Where are you?

 

If your talking about the Des Moines TMC hotel then no theres nothing within walking distance. They have vending machines and a lot of menus from area restaurants you can get delivered. I think depending on the bus driver they will once a week stop at Walmart on the way back from the training center so you can stock up on whatever. And no they don't have frigs in the rooms. We had one driver who stopped the bus at Wendy's for us. Ordering out can get costly too, I seen guys buy a cheap cooler and stock up on can goods, kinda like camping.

At the training center itself there is also nothing within walking distance. But they have vending machines and they feed you a hot lunch during the day, pretty good grub too made by old ladies.

If your able to drive there instead of taking the bus its great as you have more freedom during off hours to go places, but you will also become a popular guy if few there have a car.

I was told before they use to let the drivers take the hotel bus out for trips to the store and such but rumor has it a group took it to the bar one night and crashed it.

 

No problem. But be advised its been two years since I been there so theres a chance they built something out that way. Check Google maps around the hotel to be sure.

 

I was there in Jan. and they had the van available.

Just check with the front desk and ask if anyone is taking the van and ride with them. Usually a 2 hour period for use. Students won`t be allowed to sign it out. Just check with the desk and other drivers. Someone will be gong somewhere.
