I am going to be leasing a truck and I am responsible for the plates, I live in California and i'll be leased on to a company so I don't know how many states I will travel. Could someone tell me the process and will there be any upfront costs?

The company you are leasing to should be able to tell you which states you will be running in, and yes there will be up front costs.

Thanks, I think it's one of those dirty foreigner companies that promise to gross $12K a week running Amazon and UPS freight:biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513:

If you are talking about leasing a truck from the company, and they want you to tag it, that is two strikes, you will only get one more, and then they have tags. lol

I was going to lease the truck from a 3rd party and then take it to a carrier

A few years ago they changed it from registering the states that you plan to run, to all the jurisdictions covered by the International Registration Plan. So even if you have no intention of going to Canada, you will have all those provinces too.

    So what is apportioned?

I haven't looked at the registration yet. But the plate expired in September. Instead of having the month and new year stickers on it. It now has apportioned.

The HUT KY and NM taxes are in addition to IFTA, not a substitute to it.
