Are MECHANICAL GOOSENECKS bad for driveline when you hook up?

This is what I think of as a scraper neck. Wide neck with lower crossmembers. Allows a 623 type scraper to bump tires against neck without belly pan touching. With the early Murrays, we would lay a 4' 4x6 on top of the rails, just enough to clear the pan.
