I’m a LTL City Driver. Some stops can be labor intensive. Others not so much. If I have an entirely palletized load the pallet jack does most of the work. But I sometimes haul pipes of large size that I have to strap in. Sometimes have to use a forklift with chains to move heavy things.
So you have to be ready for anything. Usually 10-15 stops per day.
OTR guys used to bumping docks and hiring lumpers don’t usually last.Gearjammin' Penguin, alds, Redtwin and 2 others Thank this. -
Driving a truck will destroy your body - physical labour is what keeps it together.

There are line haul drivers where I work. They have it easy. Usually just a straight shot Houston to Dallas or San Antonio or Corpus or Austin, then a quick drop and hook or sometimes live unload. We bid in December and I have enough seniority now that I’ll get one of those cake runs. But I’m also wary it’ll make me lazy. They run at night too.
Moronica Thanks this. -
Line haul companies are hiring also.
