I've really noticed in the last couple of years that drivers seem to be conducting themselves with less regard and respect for their fellow motorists. Maybe here in Saskatchewan we're just not accustomed to having to wait more than 30 seconds in city traffic. Whatever the reason, there are now some genuine first-class whackos on the road.
Last week, I was delivering fuel to a location right smack in the middle of a residential area. Of course, whenever possible, dispatch will set these deliveries up for an after hours (i.e. night shift) drop, but when they call and they're out of gas, then you get them their fuel asap.
So, I finished my drop around 6pm, and I'm leaving, following the company mandated route plan exactly. They try to route as close as possible to legal truck and dangerous goods routes, but in this case we are required to drive about 8 blocks through a residential area, simply no choice.
I look in my mirror and I see a white half ton speeding up to get on my bumper. I see the vehicle nosing out into the oncoming lane, as if attempting to pass me. My first thought is, why does this idiot need to pass me on a very narrow 40 kph street? After a few aborted attempts, he pulls out and starts passing me, forcing an oncoming vehicle to stop in the process. As soon as his vehicle clears my hood, he cuts in front of me and slams on his brakes, forcing me to stop in the middle of the street.
He storms over to the driver's door and demands to know why I'm on this road. He tries repeatedly to get me to admit this isn't a truck route, but I just responded that this is the road I am told to take, and he can talk to my company. Then he demands to know my truck number (even though it's on the front bumper...duh! I refuse to provide any info, so he starts taking pictures with the cell phone, then, mercifully, drives away.
I called my company immediately, and informed them of what just occurred. After work that night I documented everything and sent in my report the next day. A few days later, the boss informed me that this a-hole actually called him to complain. When the boss challenged him with description of him passing me and cutting me off, he explained that he was 'forced' to drive aggressively to pull me over!
My next day off started with me buying a decent dash cam. God, I wished I'd had one in the truck that day. Would have taken it straight to the police.

Don't tell me you actually expect proper driving from Saskatchewan drivers? I hate Saskatoon with a passion. There were a number of times I would have loved to run some of those ####### over! Makes me want to jump out and beat the crap out of someone.

Go to Ontario. They're pretty much the worst. Actually it seems the further east you go, the worse they get. But Saskatoon drivers are a special brand of stupid.

It's not just in Canada, there are JackWagons EVERYWHERE. I don't know how you guys do it, honestly. I wouldn't have the patients to deal with that.
Lowa3468 and TankermanRich Thank this. -
I do runs from Alberta to Laredo Texas, and for the most part they are pretty uneventful until I hit lower Texas and the oilfield crap drivers. But the eastern drivers are pretty horrible. I mentioned to my driver manager that I wouldn't mind going straight back to Alberta, but we never have anything like that, so I'm stuck for now.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
