Do any of these four carriers (Schneider, Prime, Werner, Swift) require steel toe or composite toe for your boots when going through training or after it? Does foot ware matter at all to them?

Flatbed side of prime or swift may require them due to the requirements of the places they load at. I’d be pretty surprised if anything Schneider hauls required them.

Schneider is believed to they require slip resistant boots but not sure if steel toe

When I started CDL driving with Schneider -- they wanted drivers to have shoes/boots that were both slip & oil-resistant.
Fast forward to the present: it depends on the assigned account in question -- if you are in/around flatbed freight -- it's likely you will be reqd to have toe protection, as well.
This is actually a pretty good question for a recruiter -- but word the question so that the answer is open-ended (as opposed to merely a "yes/no" answer).
If the recruiter can't/won't give you a satisfactory answer within a reasonable amount of time -- GET ANOTHER RECRUITER.
FOOTNOTE: A bad/lazy/unsatisfactory response from a recruiter does NOT make for a bad fleet (don't judge a whole fleet....based on one bad recruiter experience).

It wouldn't hurt to keep a pair of steel toe shoes or boots. You can get them cheap. You know what steal toes are more sexy than? They're more sexy than 9 toes.
Sirscrapntruckalot and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
When I started with swift, they gave us steel toes along with all the other safety equipment. I still have them and carry them. I never worn them... I was picking up a 8x8 hardwood block at a terminal one time and slipped out of my hand and landed on my foot. Broke my little toe. Went and got loaded at a lumber mill after and had to tarp. That hurt like a son of a b

We are not interested in flatbead at all. Wife say's hell no to tarping and chaining. Everything else is possible.
Think these will be ok? Amazon.com or these Amazon.com
They dont say oil resistance, but they do say waterproof, is that the same thing in boots?Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -

Get steel or composite toe boots anyway, whether you need them or not. One little foot injury and you may be off work for awhile.
I prefer composite toe because in freezing weather, steel gets awfully cold.
If anyone asks, just say you're wearing steel toe.Last edited: Feb 17, 2025
