Hello everyone.
Are there any reputable companies that pay decently and that hire "returning drivers"? I've been off the road for a few years. In 2023, I was was unwilling to accept the lower pay and crappier working conditions, and I don't want to be forced to accept punishment by having to work for garbage wages at a mega-carrier that is famous for abusing its employees. I left a job at the end of 2022 because I thought I had a local job lined up, but that fell through. Since then I was not able to find a job that offered decent pay, so I did other work.
I am interested in getting into dry bulk pneumatic or oilfield water or crude hauling. I have an X endorsement.
I have been looking for oilfield work all summer, but I have only heard back from one company that isn't a 1099 company, and they won't offer transportation to their terminal. I want to go there but I need transportation to get there. Besides that, I am a little sketched out. What trucking company doesn't provide transportation to the terminal?
Are there 1099 jobs that are not a scam? I really got burned badly the one time I went to drive for someone as a contractor.
Thanks in advance!

@WesternPlains has had excellent success finding 1099 jobs from Craigslist. Maybe he can help.

I am unfortunately not in Herkimer County anymore. I'm near Greenville SC now. I don't have tank experience, but I have an X endorsement. I guess I'm looking for an entry level position?
I'd move back to CNY in a heartbeat if someone there hired me. -
You know you'll be required to take a refresher out of pocket prior to employment, right?
Only one that doesn't / won't require it is Schneider.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
