I can't speak for anyone else but my reason for driving a truck is to get out there in the real world, get some fresh air and not be stuck inside an office or warehouse. Are these people insane?, on the Fla pike no less, from inside an office, I've gotta find a new profession.

I predict this will happen before fully autonomous. The robots will drive long haul over specialized road networks then when they get to their destination city control will be turned over to a "call center".
Imagine an 8 hour shift of just driving to-and-from the interstate. Trucks routed to your terminal in a cue system like a call center.
Problem I foresee so far is lag time and signal interference. Anyone that's played an online video game knows how bad it is when you start glitching in a firefight. Still not ready to unleash that on the public. -
cant wait for the lawsuits

One good power outage will fix that and if the truck is at highway speed... it's going to kill people.
Make that trucks plural. One good truck wreck is bad. But maybe 100 truck wrecks?MartinFromBC Thanks this. -

Hell my iphone glitches out regularly, texts not received, computer crashes, satellite tv goes down every time we get a storm.
But it will help cut down on the overpopulation if we get self driving trucks.
What a stupid idea!!!
