They treat drivers like cattle. Just herding us in when they are good and ready. 1st thing they dont allow early check in. Then when you do they only allow 2 drivers in the guard shack at a time for check in even in the dead of winter. Then you sit in staging area forever until they call you. When you do get a door they wont even let you through the gate until you slide your tandems ALL the way back which makes it more difficult to manuever into your door. I would rather line up first then slide. 2 hrs to unload. Lumper fee. Leave bills inside trailer thenyou sit 2 more hours waiting for someone to bring bills out. You cant go in the building to even use the toilet!! Lucky there is parking on the road just down from the facility cause I ran out of hours last time and had to shut down as soon as I left the property!!! Not a nice place to go. Not nice at all!! I've been to Wal Mart DC's that are better![]()

First of all, you can show up anytime before your appointment and park... there many places that turn you away, some won't allow you to show up until 15 minutes before your appointment.
2nd get used to limits on how many drivers allowed in the shack. Some places don't let you in at all, and you stand in line outside the window.
3rd they call you on the phone. They call you. They call you. Yep, there are places you have to go back to the guard and check yourself. Wakefern in NJ I think makes you sit there if you don't have a CB.
Not the first place to make people slide their tandems... BTW its is easier to back a trailer with tandems all the way back... not the other way around.
2hrs to unload.... Wow! you are really gonna have a fit at some of these places that can take all day to unload...
No going inside, standing in line, dealing with surly clerks, they bring the bills to you... oh the horror! Thats the best kind of place! Would you rather sit in your truck where it becomes your job to watch and wait for the green light to turn red, then turn green, then wait 30 mins before going inside? Imagine doing that for 4 hours. At least you could have slept the entire 4 hours only to be interrupted by someone bringing you your paperwork.
There is parking all over that area, and the truckstop is only a mile or two away.Ex-Con-Trucker, joseph1135, Sly Fox and 3 others Thank this. -

Sounds like fun!! I guess I better grin and bear it. Take the good with the bad. I' m quickly learning what its all about. Baptism by fire. Sink or swim. It helps to be able to read these posts though!! Drivers don't chat in person as much these days...thanks

Been there many times and yes they're a pain but not too bad as you say. You'll get used to it. At least it's not a mud hole like some and actually lots of room to maneuver around. Get used to it as there's a lot worse out here.

Trucking has it's moments.
Staging areas are a good place to "sleep". Your lucky these days if a grocer has one. Most don't allow early delivery, so don't show up until 1 hr before your scheduled unless they have parking area for OTR drivers. My worst day was many years ago near Burley, ID. We had about 20 inches of snow and temp below -15F and I was on a 1/4 tank of fuel, the Plant was partially shutdown...They said, we'll call you when your load is ready! It was the next day! (Wesson Potato Factory took over 30 hours to load outbound trucks, but, I did get detention/layover)snowlauncher Thanks this. -
