So I figured I would log my experience going through U.S. Xpress's orientation. (Kinda bored in the motel room.)
I started my journey into the trucking world in November. Completing my CDL training from RoadMaster Tampa (160 hrs). At the last second I asked a room mate if he wanted to team and go to U.S. Xpress and the rest is history.
I left for orientation on the first at 5:45pm from Lakeland, Florida, on Greyhound (company provided). Now I've never road a Greyhound before, even in the military I always flew. And let me tell you... if you have a choice, fly. It was a horrible experience!
I arrived in Dalton, Ga, at 8:30am Monday monday (the 2nd), and have the shuttle pick me up from the Pilot station that the Greyhound drops you off at. Little to my knowledge there were six of us going to orientation that was on the greyhound. We were taken to the motel where we were issued room mates. Lucky for me I am partnered with a experienced driver so I have been asking him tons of questions. Wal-Mart is close enough to walk to, which is pretty awesome. So is a couple of fast food joints.
---- If anyone has specific questions (that are about to go through orientation) please post or send PM and I'll try to get back with you asap. ---
I'll post what happens tomorrow!

Good luck at orientation. I went through orientation in December at the Markham terminal. The staff at Markham was great plus i got to meet and talk with a lot of USX drivers. Hope it goes good for you.

Now that you've been through the Greyhound thing, next time you will be able to pick out all the drivers...LOL

Anyway who is your trainer and good luck? -
Young Gun,
Where are you ????????

HA! No, as yall have read I've been around. Orientation was quick for me. I am now at the quality inn here in Jacksonville for the weekend. I was pawned off on a dedicated trainer (Family Dollar) and he goes home on the weekend and I come to the hotel. Starting my 4th week on Monday. Can't wait to be on my own!
Getting paid 58$ a day for doing hard labor and then driving for another 7 hours is down right insulting.Just want to upgrade and never touch family dollar again.
