When I did that local distribution for Schneiser, we were played mileage plus stop pay. It was 100% local in a day cab.
Mega never gonna pay hourly.
Safety is a priority when there's a failed Inspection or an accident or a citation.
Until then money is the top priority.
Don't kid yourself.
ATA could set a new standard for safety with hourly pay

And yes maybe OOIDA isnt as effective as they could be but who else is gonna do anything to combat the megas??kemosabi49 Thanks this. -
At Landstar. Where money, excuse me, safety comes first, one of our drivers picked up a pre loaded trailer that was a wreck.
He took it directly to a Petro a half mile away.
It's so whacked it has to go to a dealer to be repaired.
Now if this happens to one of our tractors during a landstar inspection, it's down immediately and has to be fixed on the spot or leave on the hook.
But their trailer that the mechanic informed them was an OOS violation, with an audible air leak the compressor could barely keep up with.............well it was deemed not being really THAAAAAAAT unsafe, and driven back to the DC.
When it's their $1,000, then you know, is it really THAAAAAAAT unsafe?TheDudeAbides, x1Heavy and Coffey Thank this. -
It's not the combating.
This is once again America. The one thing you CAN do is use OOIDA form a Borg Cooperative, pool the money together and buy ALL Megas in sight. Liquidate same. -
Dispatch in FFE asked us a question in 2001. Late June.
"Drivers (We were a H/W team) you have 2928 miles to go to LA and are 10 minutes late already. You going to make it on time?
Our Answer?
Two parts:
1- We don't know, we find out when we get there.
2- Open up the speed on this truck so we can ensure this most valuable important ball breaking load will get to LA EARLY. We were governed at 63.
We skipped a fuel stop. Made Holbrook AZ which would be around 2210 miles give or take 50 with 6 gallons in both tanks to spare. We knew that century will go 2100 miles on 345 gallons of fuel but we did not know what will happen when we skip a 30 plus minute fuel stop in Memphis and kept rolling to Holbrook to get fuel there. It was a gamble.
We were in LA 10 minutes early. 2934 miles.
Makes me want to stop by the likker store and buy a case. Dispatch is just not doing well what with all that stressing over time. -
More regulations are what we don't need.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
