My names Michael and I’m a new driver, I went threw a sponsored training program threw a company called Mast Trucking based out of millersburg Ohio that hauls reefers, and it’s not a bad company I just feel like they micromanage. They have two cameras one facing out and one facing in and they have a “point system” and depending on your actions I guess you can say they deduct points against you and then at the end of the month they give you a monthly performance card and the points that were deducted against you effects your performance card and you get a percentage let’s 90% and above is good and also they have 3 categories, you got OPERATIONS, which is like on time deliveries and turning in all your paperwork, “FUEL MANAGEMENT” which is solely just your mpg, and then the “SAFETY” category which is the main one and the camera has a Gforce sensor and it detects hard braking and accelerating, and turns. And if you trip that Gforce sensor it takes a 20 second recording and goes back 10 secs before the incident and 10 secs after. And they go over it and if it was something serious then they save it and every month your suppose to have a short safety meeting and they go over it and basically ask what happened.. and also if your following closely to cars it takes a short clip and I believe if your going like 6 or more mph over the speed limit. And if in the clips your playing on your phone or even eating or smoking they deduct points against you and your phone is the most severe which is understandable but the smoking and eating I think is a little ridiculous and also they even deduct points if your messing with your radio or even your AC controls. And it basically doesn’t matter what your doing if you don’t have two hands on the steering wheel at all times your in the wrong and your gonna get points deducted. And I still got 9 months with this company cause I’m under a contract and if I leave I owe them $7,000. And after my year is up which would be June 28th of 2027 I’m looking to go to flatbed and I want to work my way up threw my flatbeds and eventually do heavy haul and I want to work for a company where eventually overtime I can become a owner operator threw them which is why I’ve been choosing ATS. possibly others but I’m mainly looking forward for ATS. And I’m wondering if anyone here works for ATS or has any Opinions about ATS or even recommendations for other company’s. Im fresh 21. I literally turned 21 June 1st then June 8th went into training for my CDL. I got class A’s but I have a manual restriction because my company don’t run manuals and I’m working towards all my endorsements which ik I don’t need them all I just want them to make my portfolio or background i guess you can say for hiring look good.. and also i don’t got kids or a wife or anything and im not really a I wanna be home every night or week guy and right now im on a 6-1 schedule but i find 1 day off very inconvenient and so im usually out for 18 days then i come home for 3 but im about to switch to 30 on and 5 off.. So does anyone got any recommendations also a company that doesn’t really micromanage

Melton is very hands off. It can be literally weeks between times I talk to the office other than canned messages for arrivals and stuff. No owner op fleet though. I've set my camera off from a couple of hard brakes and never heard anything about it.

ATS is good if you want to run oversized. Seems like they do a ton of that

If complaining about camera set offs , may want to consider your life choices . Trucking is 5 hours of , can I stay awake , followed by .03 seconds of how do I not kill or injure someone or myself . Only my opinion and experience . Be safe keep shiny side up .

7k up front or 7k make payments until paid off? If that’s the case and you have experience I’d start looking. Should be able to pay 7k off fairly quickly depending on what you got yourself doing next.
