Recent development.
Cleveland Terminal phoning 'problem people' on the day they are scheduled to return to work from 'home time', telling them to 'hurry in as there are numerous trucks to be moved'. Unfortunately, 'problem people' hurry in to get a good trip only to find out they have been suspended or fired.
Parent Company JHT Holdings is trying to reposition cut rate Iron Tiger Logistics into a 'prestige carrier/employer' since they now make more money (beginning this month) than ATT employees. JHT is hoping the stop the 'malaise' at ITL (huge turnover and heavy use of Unimark and outside contractors) by attracting 'desirable' ATT employees.
The newly opened San Antonio yard is reportedly the destination of 'undesirables' (trouble makers) to be matched with 'problem loads' thru phone dispatch. Keeping the 'trouble makers' away from the regular terminals? The often humorous and equally pathetic public displays of one particular male dispatcher whenever the 'gay cotiere' arrives is always a bit much.
The Natalia, TX and Mt. Holly, NC (decking shop) operations are back up and running.
*******************************
In recent years, ATT employees have unwillingly made the following sacrifices:
Recent 3.5% reduction in pay due to a 'give back contract' that no one voted for.
Lost ability to strike legally. Again, no one voted for this 'concession'.
Detention Pay now begins on the 4th day is is NOT retroactive. Before, it began on the 2nd day and was retroactive to the 1st day. Again, no one approved of this except the Union Director and the Company President.
Dealer Delivery Delay Pay stopped altogether. Again, no rank and file employee voted for this.
We've never received 'travel pay' - this is wrong but the Union Director will never consider putting it on the table as he is a 'team player'.
Being paid 'book miles' instead of 'best route miles' is just plain wrong. Again, our Union Director is a 'team player'.

New development. 'Special OPS' is a term coined by another ex ATT driver(?) and contributor to another related thread. These people are generally considered to be 'plants' inserted by management and used to 'influence and guide' current employees.
****************************
It's being reported at a number of the recent 'call backs' are in fact 'special ops'. The July 22nd agreement stipulates that everyone on layoff be called back, whether there is enough work or not to go around. Way more drivers than available trips at the moment as all backlogs in Portland and Laredo have been cleared.
One 'special ops' I witnessed for myself recently at Laredo Operations. He claimed he was laid off well before the Springfield operation was rolled over into the Iron Tiger division. He was too obvious with his taking management's position on every work related subject. Claimed he took out a massive federal student loan to learn a high risk, high dollar trade. Claimed things were slow at the moment so he 'came back' to ATT. He didn't seem smart enough to do this job, much less the high dollar, high risk trade. Other ex-Springfield drivers claimed they had never seen him before.
A few weeks back, another driver reported from San Antonio that his transportation to the local yard was unexpectedly delayed so the new transportation contractor could pick up another 'ex - Springfield'(?) and 'recently recalled driver'(?). Mr. 'recalled' knew Mr. 'delayed' but not vice versa. Mr. 'recalled' took a stern 'management position' on every subject discussed, to the point Mr. 'delayed' grew suspicious and broke off the conversation.
Once at the yard, Mr. 'recalled' began to critique Mr. 'delayed' to the point of becoming a major irritant. Mr. 'delayed' related to me that this guy was just too plain obvious, a replay of the 2005 union selection election 'escapades'. His description of Mr. 'recalled' was interesting: filthy athletic socks and filthy tennis shoes, t-shirt and shorts with the t-shirt barely covering Mr. 'recalled's ample belly.

Interesting times at ATT for the moment.

Yea I've seen quite a few people I don't know who they are, expect the end soon.

Employee Relations Companies such as The Burke Group are 'earning' their income from criminal organizations like JHT Holdings.
What 'labor suppression' is all about.

Trying to coverup the obvious.

Talks are proceeding for a 1 day wildcat strike on December 15th, 2010. We're talking about shutting down for 24 hours. Will the unionized decking shops (also IAM) and office employees go along with us? Labor stoppages were banned in our 2007 contract, the one no one voted for. Also the same year the unreasonable 'givebacks' were started.
Everything has been going backwards for years with only the national union rep and company president voting on our contracts. It's past time to get their attention. It's also time to separate the 'players' from the 'pretenders'. Pass the word.

Bump. 12/15/2010 proposed strike at ATT/IAM notice removed from Trucker's Strike forum for some reason. Did someone make a phone call?
-
Company shills, special ops and so forth are making a big play about the proposed wildcat strike being 'illegal'. Yeah, we know and we know who you are and what you stand for too.

December 15th, 2010. 24 hour shutdown for all IAM represented employees of ATT (and Iron Tiger Logistics).
-
Just curious....This is Unimark also? ( They were looking in Houston ) And your shutdown? All the companies or ATT ?
-
Just the two IAM represented companies. Auto Truck Transport and Iron Tiger Logistics. December 15th, 2010. 24 hour national shutdown.
-
Unimark is back in Houston and on Craigslist. Advertising .55 to.65 for single units and .75 to1.22 for decked sets.......seems to be some urgency in their ad.
