Automated Planning?

    When I went through the EOBR class, the safety mgr who gave the class said that England was testing a new system and are apparently pleased with the results. Apparently, when a load becomes available or needs to be repowered, a computer picks between 3 and 5 possible trucks based on location, status and it's database of stats for that truck. Those computer-chosen options are then given to the planner who assigns the load.

    Word is that the goal is to put this system in place sometime in the first part of this coming year and then tweak it to have the computer assign the loads.

    Even though it's from a safety mgr, it's still unconfirmed and therefor rumor. Anyone else hear of it?

    I've been reading stories in the Trucker's Magazine about this. It looks like the Feds are the ones that are trying to implement the EOBR regulation. To me, it is a waste of time and just another headache.

    I say it's just a way to get drivers off the planners ###.

    Run the story...then run the company the way you want to. Because the drivers believe it's automated.

    EOBR are coming, and that's a fact. I firmly believe that is why wages are being pushed downward. Once the EOBR is put on the truck, they'll bring the wages back up to past levels. And drivers will think they got a raise to go along with reduced hours.....NOT

    READ WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING: This is a way to push wages back to 72 cpm - CR England advertizes 90 cents to stay at a recruiting level, caue no drivers, no income for the company. But it charges the drivers for the salaries of part of it's staff. An example is the waitress who has to put her tips in a bowl so that at the end of the day everyone, many times including a manager, gets the benefits of her tired feet. Instead of CR England absorbing the cost, it's passing it on to the guy without a voice.
    Other companies are taking this cost out of company operations.
