I am curious how many miles per day most of you are averaging in a non-team setup. I had a dispatcher call to pitch me the other day and he was giving me an example of the loads he would have for us. He was telling me that a 1,400mi trip (from Minneapolis to PA) should be able to be delivered in 2 days. Pickup would have been on a Monday at 7am CST to be delivered by EOD Tue.
How can that be possible? What am I missing?
With fuel stops, mandatory breaks, and overall HOS rules I just can't see how someone is getting 700mi per day. Also, keep in mind the snow has started to fly, and this route goes through major cities with rush hour, etc.
He tried telling me that my driver must not be very strong, but he's been driving CDL for 20+ years for some of the biggest companies out there.
Open to thoughts/suggestions.

1400 miles can be easily done going west of Minneapolis, but not East. Chicago will throw you out of scheduletscottme and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.
Tbh, I plan my own freight, and I hardly ever do those kinds of miles. To me it's the dollars per day, not the miles per day.

Can easily be done on the over night shifts.RooLogi Thanks this.
A hotshot truck is going to have to stop 3 times for fuel at least. I'm not familiar with the route but biggest factor often over looked is finding parking and doing so strategically to make appointment.
To me anything over 600 miles a day is usually pushing it. And it's not the drive but all the other factors that hurts you. Load times, fuel stops and parking availability that allows to maximize drive time.
I always try to get to appointment 1hr before picking up and delivering to account for unforeseen traffic slowdowns.
