    Hello,

I am a new parts guy for a Peterbilt mechanic, no experience in the field. I've been doing this for 6 months now and am starting to get the basic swing of it, but I need somewhere to ask my questions as I don't have anyone to give me detailed answers at my job.

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between a tapered axle seat and a non-tapered axle seat?

    Thanks,

A cone goes with and fits into the tapered axle end. A nut and usually a washer goes on top of the cone. There is a special tool made for easy removal of the cones.
