holy crap, i just bought that muffin thing, the detroit OTR reset tool. no more derates, no more tows, forced regen as much as you want to keep that thing burned clean inside. and that way at least you can get yourself to your shop of choice for aftertreatment work if there is a legit problem. lots of sensors and components to trigger faults and depending on who you get to "diagnose" the problem, one little thing could turn into a $10k snowball right quick. now just got to figure out what software to get to look at the pressure readings and nox readings while it's running, to know what to replace when stuff starts dying
Same issue here. 2014 ProStar/N13 MaxxForce. SPN-3226. No performance issues, no yellow triangle or stop engine. Sometimes the check engine light comes on, sometimes it doesn't and the fault clears. No pattern to this behavior at all. Thoughts anyone?
Maxxforce is know for finicky emissions issues from my understanding. Might be that it needs an update or if it happens randomly it could be that you're getting a little coolant from your EGR cooler into the system. That was my issue on my Volvo for awhile, as well as wiring getting chaffed and popping up issues during rain.
There's so much that can go wrong on emissions trucks its kinda understandable that it is a pain to diagnose them sometimes.
