I've got one heck of a roadtrip coming up in late March and I need to find out if it is possible (from a trucker that drives the route) if it is possible to drive from Bar Harbor, ME or Bangor, ME to Baltimore, Maryland in a day?
I am from S. Dakota and about to embark on a 48 state, 9K mile roadtrip. I understand that traffic can be horrible out east. Any ideas guys and gals for the particular route? Thanks and have a great day!!
Bangor, ME or Bar Harbor, ME to Baltimore? Doable in a day?

guess we'll have to stop off in NYC then. Thanks for the info

any idea what the NJTP costs to travel on with a car?
-
Not too bad for a car. But you will have plenty more tolls besides the NJTP

I hate tolls too. I will be doing my best to avoid that but I'll have to drive on them eventually. I am looking into the EZ pass for tourists that I can buy at some EZ Pass place (probably in Chicago or somwhere near) and place on windshield so I don't have to deal with stopping and paying at each one.

Next would be the road from Baltimore over to Charleston, WV to Huntington, WV (poking into KY) then down to Winston/Salem, NC. Anyone ever driven this stretch of hwy and how long does it take in real world? Thanks,
-
Baltimore to Charleston, run 1-70 west to 1-68 west to 1-79 south Total Travel Estimate: 5 hours 51 minutes / 365.14 miles
From Charleston over to Winston-Salem. Run 1-77 south, when you come into NC about 3 or 4 miles after entering NC you will pick up 1-74 at Mt. Airy(stop in and see Andy Griffith) then 1-74 turns into U.S. 52 and 52 takes you right into Winston. Total Travel Estimate: 3 hours 33 minutes / 216.63 miles
You get tolls in WV. It is called the WV Turnpike
It is actually 1-77 and 1-64.

Bar Harbor, ME to Bangor, ME
This is one hours drive in winter time. 2 hours drive in summer. However, DOT / Lane Construction will be cutting (Route One A) up the road for 7 miles outside of Ellsworth to Dwyers Hill. So in summer time you should probably head to Bucksport then up to Bangor alongside the Penobscot River making it a 1.5 hour journey.
Bangor to NH is a 4 hour drive. 95 south to Gardiner, take the 295 south through Portland, resume 95 to NH.aspenedelen Thanks this.
