I was unloading in Louisiana the other day and the unloader assisting me was called away for an emergency. Apparently another driver's clothes had gotten tangled in the pto shaft and it pulled him in. The unloader said the driver was injured pretty badly and he wasn't sure if he would make it.
Pretty grim reminder that one small mistake can cost you a lot in the blink of an eye.
Be careful out there guys...

i feel bad for the guy. but there's a word that's been around for ages.
SAFETY. and some guys just don't seem to care about it.
although i understand that even safety don't care either. some jobs are just down right dangerous.Peterbilt359 Thanks this. -
Hope the driver makes it ok. Sometimes lack of knowledge that something like this can happen maybe the reason he got tangled up in it.

Pto? What is that

Hydraulic systems [wet lines] and liquuid pumps are often driven via the PTO and drive shaft.
Farm Tractor PTO's kill a lot of farmers every year.
Anytime you are near the spinning driveshaft you are in danger of having your coat or some other article of clothing get caught and the spinning shaft will suck you in.NavigatorWife, Logan76 and dawg15318 Thank this. -

Guy I work with lost his son to that a couple years ago...got his hoody drawstrings caught and strangled him. I think it's a bigger problem being around it for a while and you become complacent.
Logan76 Thanks this. -
If anyone gets the chance to watch the "Charlie Morecraft Story" I highly recommend to do so. It's very sobering and it reminds us that safety is OUR responsibility. No matter what the bosses say it's our life and our family that we go home to.

Although this warning label in my truck makes me chuckle, it's serious business.
