    No.

I have had them come out and tell me to turn the truck off when it was hot outside and I had to sit in it.

Just hacking on you, and yes, I've been told to shut it down, too - luckily, there was a lounge, but it was unlike any other place I've ever seen called a "lounge". Most "lounges" have beer and a juke box.

BAD BAD BAD...You drank 6 sodas and 2 44 ouncers????? I'm gonna call her and she will kick your ### from here to there. Thats more soda than any one person should drink in a month. I drink very little soda and take a 2 qt container of weak iced tea (garden mint and green tea) or just plain water.

Funny.... a guy in the military said I drank too much soda... while he regularly killed at least 6-8 megatankers (52 oz) of coffee per shift.... yeah, that's better for you.

I don't drink coffee, never have, water bores me, I drink iced tea frequently, but can't stand lemon, and just about every canned or bottled tea has lemon or some goofy concoction of flavors to make it sell better.

I drink at least 3-4 bottles of water a day... it was just funny how I got rid of a whole case in a quick trip to Houston and back (from San Antonio).

Yeah, a few years ago... I was filling in for a guy in the summer... for his vacation. Pulling a reefer trailer, hauling mostly paper products(dry van stuff).

I would pull up the the dock, promptly start the reefer unit set for 40 deg. F. Go in with the paperwork.... Mind you, it was about 105 deg in the shade... Those dock workers couldn't get to my truck to unload it fast enough. LOL!

When subjects like this come up, it never ceases to amaze me just how many people are rude, selfish, self-centered, pig-headed and not fit to be around humans.

There are such things as manners, respect, common courtesy, sharing, and human kindness. These are desirable human traits that we all used to be introduced to and expected to exhibit.

Please be aware that kindness is not weakness. Sharing is not bribing. Common courtesy is not sucking-up. Manners are not optional. Respect is something you give if you want to receive it.

If trucking has made you this unhappy, for heaven's sake get out! If you are just that unhappy with yourself do some reflecting and try and find what it is that makes you so cynical.

If anyone mistakes my kindness for weakness they will be unpleasantly surprised. I do not bribe or suck up. I do display manners and try to brighten the day of others. I do show the same respect that I demand. Because of kindness and common courtesy I will gladly share the simple things in life with others.

If you are constantly treated poorly look at how you treat others and how you interact with them. For the most part you get treated in a manner similar to how you treat others. Sure there are exceptions. In those situations does returning the poor treatment give you a positive return?

    Just curious.

You think because people do not believe in giving things to others that they are rude and have no manners?

Or that they are unhappy and no common courtesies?

The same can be said of the dock workers as well.

But so you know. Appt time was 8:30.

Thursday, I was 3 hours early to my appointment. They showed up at 7 and I stayed with the truck.

At 7:20, they came out and said they were open and could get me in out out if I wanted to come in early.

Did not cost me any drinks.
Did not cost me any food.

I was polite and mannered and not rude.

    Was I selfish?

    Absolutely... great post.

    Rant ON -

Amazing how people react to someone's good fortune or success... when you got a promotion in the military, people said you sucked up. Really? I think I just tested better than you did - we both took the same test, had the opportunity to run the same PT test, get the same decorations, but instead of being on the SWAT Team and volunteering with a charity downtown, you chose to stay home and drink and bytch, whine and complain about everything... and now that something goes better for me, you attack me and call me a suck up.

Same with this shipper scenario - I'm just a nice guy. I'm friendly. My folks taught me to share. My HS football time and military time taught me teamwork.

The gumblers can sit back and say "I'm not giving anyone anything!".... and if you really think this is REALLy about a soda or a bottle of water, I can't help you.

    Rant OFF.

There were a few places around Toronto I'd wind up at around once a week. These guys were always giving me fresh packaged cookies, cleaning products, boxes of Kleenex, what ever they handled. Some right out of the warehouse, sometimes damaged goods they had from me or someone else. Another place there, ALWAYS had an open dock for me, and I was ALWAYS in and out very quickly. These guys started it, I don't know why, maybe because I was always decent to them, they saw me a lot, whatever. I thought I'd do something for them when I knew I was going to their places. Now, don't anyone tell customs, but I always had a carton of Marlboro lights with me, no, I don't smoke cigarettes, but the guys at these places did, and I'd hand them out.
These guys started it first, #### customers.:biggrin_25525:
