    Just wondering,

Do insurance companies offer some sort of discount to carriers who install these stupid backup alarms on trucks?

Seems more and more trucks have them. All night long that's all I hear at the truckstop, besides the horn blowing...

If the truck is automatic I'm assuming you could put it in reverse, keep foot on brake, and the beep beep will just continue until you switch it to neutral or park correct?

I've never driven any truck with it. Even if I was offered an insurance discount they could shove that thing where the sun dont shine, no way in hell would I install that.:biggrin_2556:

Some chemical plants have began requiring backup alarms on all trucks entering their plants.

But I agree they are a pita. There should be a switch that so drivers could turn them off in situations like truck stops.

    Unfortunately that's how they work.

Ugh, I hate it but it’s required on most oilfield sites.

Lot of time I get some speed backing up and just throw it into N when I’m at a truck stop.

We are required to have them at construction sites.

So I’ve installed them on all of our dump trucks and tractors that use a dump trailer or live bottom to be compliant.

For the tractor trailers, if you don’t like one back up beeper that’s in the truck, the rules for some sites say the trailer has to have one too.

So we get to listen to 2 back up beepers going at once.:confused:

I installed one in my boss’s truck a year and half ago. ;)

This year the switch in the transmission that activates the reverse light stuck on....

The boss had to listen to his truck going beeeeep beeeep beeeeep beeeeeep beeeeep beeeep beeeep beeeep while driving on the highway non stop.

Soon he had enough:mad::mad:, pulled over, tried to yank the wire out. Failed that:mad::mad: Grabbed a hammer from the cab and cut the wire over the edge of the crossmember with a smack. :D

When the truck came in for a service, I notice the wire has been smashed cut and the reverse lights unplugged. o_O

I hate em. What I hate perhaps even more is the newer Cascadias that honk the horn if you open the door while it's in gear. Always scares the crap outta me when I'm opening to just look at something before I back up.

Since you like it; swap it out with a train horn; then you'll love it.
