    hey folks, was chatting to a buddy of mine about employee health care and such, and haven't heard a lot of trucking companies mention how they do benefits. Are you guys providing any level of health care to your drivers or other employees? Just want to get a sense of how folks think about this stuff

    From my experience it is insanely expensive to provide health insurance if you have less than say 10 employees.

    Other benefits like some sort of retirement fund is also troublesome unless you have a bunch of employees.

    What we've decided to do is don't offer these benefits and just give the employees a good bonus to spend how they wish. They are urged to use it to buy their own insurance and retirement fund, but it's their money and they can just blow it if they wish.
