Looks like JRayl is a fine company from what I see on their website. Do you currently or have you driven for them and if so, what do you think of their company; training, culture, pay? Another positive is they offer an apprenticeship program for veterans which is great as well as a tuition reimbursement. They even operate out of Danville, VA which is about 199 miles from where I live. Not sure if they would consider hiring from that far away but I will call them to inquire.

Do you want to spend 3+ hours driving one-way every time you go home?

I probably should have posted this information in one of the other forums but JRayl was shown in one of the posts. As for how far they are, it certainly isn't an ideal scenario and yes it is a long way just to get to work. Frankly, I would rather not have to do it again. I used to drive 116 miles round trip to work for 10 years while active duty and 100 miles round trip for 10 years when I drove buses. I didn't like it but I did what I had to do to achieve the final goal. Right now I'm finding it hard to locate a regional (home weekly) opportunity with a company that works out of Virginia, hires new drivers and has current openings. When I saw JRayl mentioned it became another possibility even though they are so far away. I also don't know if they have any current openings or would consider me given how far I live. I've also looked at Swift, McLane, UPS, Roehl, Schneider and Stevens but for one reason or another, they don't have anything that fits. Either they don't have any current openings or I'm out of the hiring area. There are a number of other companies but they require 1 or more years experience. Another caveat is only a handful of companies operating out of Virginia offer an apprenticeship program for veterans. Lastly, there is the VA administration that has caused a delay which is not surprising but it is unique from what most will deal with. I believe the right opportunity will present itself when the time is right.
