Hey all,
I run a small fleet of 5 LT625 trucks, and we’re looking at an OEM-level diagnostic solution.
Our main goal is to be able to:
We understand handheld OBD scanners have limits, and buying 5 separate tools isn’t cost-effective. Most of our drivers already have access to a PC or laptop, so we’re considering a software-based solution instead.
- Read and clear “Check Engine” codes
- Monitor live data (fault count, active/inactive codes, derate status, regen status, etc.)
Questions for the group:
Not looking for cheap code readers — aiming for something as close to dealer-level as possible without buying multiple full kits.
- Has anyone successfully used GM OEM software (GDS2 / Tech2Win) on the LT625 platform?
- Which interface works best in real life — OEM MDI2 or J2534 devices like VXDIAG VCX Nano?
- For a small fleet, is it better to run:
- a shared standalone shop PC, or
- laptops with the software used by drivers/techs as needed?
- Any known limitations when it comes to clearing CELs, monitoring fault counts, emissions/regen status, or derate conditions?
Any real-world feedback would be GREATLY appreciated !!
Thanks ahead, and keep trucking !

What engine?
@Heavyd -
We have both A26 and X15s engine, my main one to diagnose would be the A26 right now ... Many EGR Valve Errors etc

At our shop, we have GM Techline, SPS/GDS, but that is strictly for GM engines which is used exclusively with the International CV trucks. For LT trucks, it sorta depends on what engine you are running. If you have all International engines, then Service Diagnostic Solutions software is fantastic for the engine only. For the cab body controller we use Diamond Logic Builder and then transmissions it is Service Ranger 4, and ABS is Bendix ACOM Pro. For your fleet, you only need one laptop with whatever software you choose and you can plug into as many trucks as you want. If your trucks have Cummins power, then Cummins Insite is what we use for those. We use this level of software because we do have to perform programming updates and recalibrations which is not always possible with 3rd party generic software.
BlueThunderr, QUALITYTRUCK and 062 Thank this.
