Hello All,
What GPS do you guys recommend? Do you use an actual Garmin-type device, or some of the mobile apps available out there? Which ones are best for showing truck-specific routes? The Garmin devices are just so expensive, not wanting to purchase unless absolutely necessary.....
Thankful for any advice from you guys. We are outfitting one of our first company trucks and really appreciate this forum!
Best GPS for trucking. Which one do you have/like?

Perhaps you might want to take the time to do a "search." Considering there are 10+ threads out there. Which already asked the same question. SMH

Inroute and Google Earth. F Rand mcfail and their garbage products.
Used to have a stressful situation when using truck gps I've used hammer, Google maps, copilot, Rand McNally etc.
What I do now is the best thing I've found.
Use iOS maps for an idea, investigate with satalite view or Google Earth. Make adjustments with inrout route. Look for bridges check weight restrictions March on not worried about #### because you planned it 100%Lite bug and Dockbumper Thank this. -

The short version is Rand McNally has better and more useful software than Garmin, but the RM Hardware is flimsey and poor quality. I was able to get almost 5 years from my RM 740, the last 3 years no map or database updates.
The Rand McNally gives more useful info (nearest CAT scale, name of next cross street, and more info on the driving screen) than the Garmin Dezl. RM stops updating the maps about 2 years after the model was introduced. The RM is easily broken. I found it was easier to build complicated and multi-stop trips with the RM.
The Garmin Dezl seems sturdier than the RM and nobody has claimed they stopped updating maps.
I'm still trying to learn the Garmin Dezl. I wish I had bought a repalcement Rand McNally instead of the Garmin. That could be my frustration trying to learn the new box.
I would consider paying for the Gold Trucker Path app. If you pay for Gold or Diamond you get spoken turn-by-turn GPS for trucks. The cheaper version is about $120 per year.
If you buy a truck GPS you can save money if you buy the 5 inch versions versus the 7 or 8 inch devices. Most of the utility comes from listening to the box announce turns so a smaller screen is fine.
The only way to know which works for you is to buy or borrow each device and try it.
